Eleanor was the daughter of David and Sarah (Henton) Ralston of Virginia, and the sister of David, Hettie, Anne, Joseph, William, Ruth, John, Jacob, Silas, Sarah, Benjamin, and David. She was the second wife of John Chrisman. They married in July of 1816. Their children were Henry Alexander, Americus U., Martha M., Cambyres, Erasmus, Sarah, John, Americus V., Martha E., David R., and Frances "Fannie" Eleanor. After the death of her husband in 1846, Eleanor worked as Post Mistress.
