Biography

Emily Eleanor Lavinia Ramsay was born on November 3, 1880 in Osprey, Grey, Ontario, Canada to Robert Ramsay and Emily Heron. ^[1]

Emily resided with her parents and brother, Robert, in Osprey in 1881. She was of Irish ethnicity and her family belonged to the Church of England. Her father was a farmer. ^[2]

By 1891, the Ramsay family lived in Nottawasage, Simcoe North, Ontario. ^[3]

In 1901, Emily lived with her parents and three brothers - Thomas (aka Alvin), Robert (aka Sheldon) and Wilford- in Assiniboia (west/ouest), The Territories. ^[4]In 1906, Emily lived in the same area now known as Saskatchewan, with her parents and brother Wilford. ^[5]

Emily married David William Coles, and they were the parents of two daughters, Elsie and Fern, and a son, William. In 1911, they lived in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. ^[6] They also had two children who died in infancy in 1919 and 1921.

Emily died at the age of 43 on January 18, 1924 and was buried in Saskatchewan. ^[7]
