Farmer:In their migration from the east coast of the new World to the west, John & Sara Ramsay made their first Michigan home in Kalamazoo Co, Texas Twp. Where he held these titles; 1841- Co. Collector; 1842- Constable; 1843-44- Treasure; & 1846-47 Highway Commissioner. After 1860 they moved to Cassopolis where they managed the County “Poor Farm”. The last two Children were born there. In 1875 they move the family north to Grant Township Mich... It is said that John Ramsay was the first farmer to own his own team of horses in the area. Their names were Gyp & Colie. He and Sara began the Ramsay legacy on Ramsay Rd, Grant twp, Grand Traverse Co. Mich.
