Thomas Stanley Raney was born Ecclesall Bierlow, Yorkshire, Sheffield, South Yorkshire in 1838.^[1]

1851 Finsbury, London. He was living with his parents, five siblings, a visitor and a servant. His father was a carpenter born in Doncaster, his mother was born in Newcastle under Lyme. ^[2]
