Asa Rankin was born 28 September 1802 in Danville Township, Caledonia, Vermont, the son of John and Lois Rankin. [1] [2]

Asa married Mindwell Rowell in 1839 in New Hampshire. They had two children. He died in Illinois in 1864. [3]
Asa King Rankin, a resident of Illinois, and Mindwell Rowell, a resident of Littleton, New Hampshire, were married on 30 May 1839 in Littleton, Grafton, New Hampshire. Drurey Fairbank, a clergyman, officiated. [4]
In 1850, the Rankin family lived in Stouts Grove, McLean, Illinois. The family included Asa K. Rankin, 47, born in Vermont, a carpenter, with $600 in real estate; his wife, Mindwell, 44, born in New Hampshire; and their two daughters, both born in Illinois, Laura, 19, in school; and Luella, 4. [5]
Asa King Rankin, 1802-1864, is buried with his wife and two daughters at Grove Cemetery, Danvers, Illinois. [6]
