Mary (Rankin) Ward was a New Jerseyan.

Mary Ogden Rankin was born on October 16, 1812, in Newark, Essex, New Jersey to William Rankin and Abigail Ogden Rankin[1][2].

On July 21, 1833, Mary and Isaac gave birth to their son Joseph Burs Ward in Newark, New Jersey[7][8].

On November 5, 1833, Mary and Isaac's son Joseph was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church in Newark, New Jersey[9].

On January/June 5, 1835, Mary and Isaac gave birth to their daughter Mary Caroline Ward in New Jersey; the 1900 U.S. Census records the birth month as January; the North America Family Histories records her birth month as June and the Findagrave.com page records her birth month as January (but the headstone is unreadable on account of the angle)[10][11].

In 1850, Mary (38) lived in Clinton, Essex, New Jersey, with her husband Isaac M. Ward (44), (inferred) son Joseph (17), (inferred) daughter Caroline (15), (inferred) daughter Emely (13), (inferred) daughter Matilda (11), (inferred) daughter Susan (9), (inferred) son William (7), (inferred) daughter Lucy (7), (inferred) daughter Hellen (5), (inferred) son Horrace (3), Irish servant Mary Watson (18), Irish laborer John Keesher (19) and Irishman Michael Kelly (16)[12].

In 1860, Mary (47) lived in Clinton, with her husband Isaac (53), (inferred) daughter Caroline (23 - as it looks on the census), (inferred) daugter Emeline (21 - I believe this is the same daughter as Emely), (inferred) daughter Susan (20) and (inferred) son William (17)[13].

In 1880, Mary (67) lived in Clinton, with her husband Isaac (73), son Joseph B. (46), daughter Caroline M. (44), daugter Emily T. (42), New York domestic servant Amelia W. Schweitzer (15) and Rhode Island housekeeper Amy Whiting (25)[14].
