Joseph was born in 1826. He was the son of Alexander Rankin and Sarah Cole.
Joseph Huston Rankin was the son of Alexander Rankin, Jr. Alexander Rankin and Sarah Cole Sarah Cole. He married Susan Maria Hansel on 20 June 1848 in Wharton Township, Fayette, Pennsylvania. They had seven children, born between 1849 and 1861. Sarah passed away in 1865. He later married Mary E. Kemp. They had five children, born between 1868 and 1886. [1]
He passed away in 1903.
