Biography

William Rankin was born 10 June 1828, and was Christened on 16 June 1828 in Fetteresso, Kincardineshire, Scotland, the son of Andrew Rankin and Jean Hutcheon. ^[1]

William Rankin and Jean Caird were married on 5 June 1858 in Fetteresso, Kincardineshire, Scotland. ^[2]

In 1861, the Rankin family lived in Echt, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. All members of the family were born in Kincardineshire, except as noted. The household included William Rankin, 32, a police Constable; his wife Jane, 26; their two children, William Alma, 2; and John, an infant, born in Aberdeenshire; and Andrew Rankin, 35, an agricultural laborer (William Sr’s brother). ^[3]
