Biography
Mary Houston Rankin, 1794-1824, was born in Danville, Mercer, Kentucky, the daughter of Adam Rankin, 1762-1817, and Elizabeth Speed, 1774-1803. Mary and William Russell Bowen were married on 5 July 1812 in Henderson, Kentucky. They had five children, born between 1814 and 1824. Mary died in Henderson, Kentucky. [1] [2] [3]
Mary and William Russell Bowen had a daughter, Susan Speed Bowen [SPEED was Mary H. (Rankin) Bowen’s mother’s maiden name] [4]
Mary Rankin and William Russell Bowen had a son, Adam Rankin Bowen, 1821-1891, who married Elizabeth Trucilla Roe. William’s mother was descended from Revolutionary War veteran, Brigadier General William Russell, 1735-1793. [5]
