She was the fourth of twelve children, including two sets of twins (the first set of twins both died in infancy). In 1920, the Rankins lived in Salt Lake County, Utah. The 1930 LDS Census shows that all members of the family were born in they lived in Salt Lake County, Utah. Maude Rankin and Francis Marion Wanlass were married on 15 September 1934 in Salt Lake, Utah. They were both 23 years old. Their parents are mentioned in the marriage record. Maude is mentioned in the obituaries of her brother, Clayton Francis Rankin; and sister, Bernice Rankin Haycock. Rankin, 48, a pipe fitter for a light company, who owned their house, valued at $2500, and had a radio, who married at age 21; his wife, Maude M., 47, who married at 20; their children, Maude, 19, a Bell Telephone operator; Bernice, 17; Marion, 13; William, 11; and twins, Jack and Frank, 8; and George’s sister, Jennie Rankin, 54, single, b. In 1950, they lived at 1939 45th Ave., San Francisco, San Francisco County, California. The family included Francis M. Wanlass, 38, a linotype operator for a typesetting company; his wife, Maude R., 38; and their children, William R., 10; Steven M., 5; and Frances M., 12. In 1960, the Wanlass family included Francis Marion Wanlass; Maude Rankin Wanlass; and their children, Frances Marion Wanlass; William Rankin Wanlass; and Stephen Wayne Wanlass. [9]
Maude Rankin Wanlass, born 30 March 1911 in Utah, died on 16 June 2005. Her last residence was San Mateo County, California. [10]
Her obituary in the Salt Lake Tribune mentioned that Maude Rankin Wanlass, 94, a retail sales clerk, died on 16 June 2005. She was born in Salt Lake City, the daughter of George W. Rankin and Maud Rankin. Her children, Frances Schutzer, William, Steven, and Robert were mentioned, as well as many siblings and grandchildren. [11]
Maude Rankin Wanlass, 94, is buried at Salt Lake City Cemetery, SLC, Utah. Her grave marker reads “in Loving Memory.” She is buried with her parents, both sets of grandparents, six siblings, numerous aunts and uncles, and other family. [12]
