William John Ransom was born on Apr. 24, 1852 in Bexhill-on-Sea, Rother District, East Sussex, England. He was the son of James Ransom and Elizabeth Clifton William Ransom married Permelia Almyra Dodge on April 3, 1878, in St George, Washington, Utah. He passed away on February 17, 1938 in Preston, Franklin County, Idaho. [1]

He was born April 24, 1852, in England, a son of James and Elizabeth Clifton. He came to America at the age of 2 with his parents, who joined the L. D. S. church in England. They sailed on the ship Windemere, where cholera and smallpox broke out, causing the death of his mother, a brother, an uncle and his grandparents, John and Carlotta Cramp Ransom. He was left with one brother, his father, an uncle and an aunt to come to America. They landed in New Orleans. and came to Salt Lake City in 1854. They settled in Utah's Dixieland, in Toquerville, in 1875. In 1878 he married Permelia Almyra Dodge in St. George L. D. S. temple. His wife died in Pima, Ariz., in 1917. In 1881 he settled in Gila valley, Arizona, and in 1903 in La Grande valley, Oregon.
