Born 1891 Holme on Spalding Moor

Harold Raper was born in Holme on Spalding Moor, his father's home village, on the edge of the plain which sweeps from the Yorkshire Wolds twenty miles west and south to the Humber and the Derwent. The village is dominated by the Holme, a steep hill rising above the damp plain.

Harold was the child of Isaac Raper and his wife Clara Barr.
