Biography

William Raper was born in about the 1540s or 1550s, and he was probably born in Yorkshire.^[1]

William married Alice Burnett on the 10th of October 1570 in All Saints', in Pickhill, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, England, and in the parish of Pickhill cum Roxby.^[2] William and Alice had at least three children together who were, John (c1570),^[3] who passed away in childhood, Thomas (1574),^[4] and Christopher (1581),^[5] who were all christened in All Saints'. William and his family probably always lived in Pickhill, however records show that they had lived there since at least 1576.

In 1576 William and Alice's eldest child, John, passed away when he was about 6 years old, and he was buried on the 1st of December 1576 in All Saint's.^[6]

Eight years after the death of William and Alice's oldest child, John, and three years after the birth of their youngest child, Christopher, William's wife, Alice, passed away in 1584. Alice was buried on the 2nd of April that year in All Saints'.^[7] William, and two of their children, 10 year old Thomas and three year old Christopher, survived her.

Thirty years later, in 1614, William passed away, and he was buried in All Saint's on the 11th of December that year.^[8]
