Albert was born on the 11th November 1896 in Aschill, Camborne, Cornwall, England. He was the son of William Henry Rashleigh and Elizabeth Ann Hocking[1]. He grew up with his mother in Camborne, first gaining employment in the tin mines [2][3].
Albert was a surface miner in the tin mines and when he became of age enlisted in the army on the 28th August 1916 in Redruth. He was 19 years 10 months old [4]. He became a Private (68493) in WO 329 Company, 38th Battalion Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Albert died of his wounds on the 18th June 1918 in Rouen, Departement de la Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandie, France [5]. He was 21 years 7 months old. He was buried in St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, Departement de la Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandie, France [6]. He was posthumously awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal [7].
