"Now we, the said heirs of the first part, etc. for and in consideration of the premises aforesaid hath and by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey unto the said William Woodfolk a certain tract or parcel of land situate, being and lying on Salt lick on Wartrace Creek on the North side of Cumberland river in the County of Jackson and State of Tennessee, containing by estimation 500 acres, be the same more or less, being the residue of said tract 1440 acres deeded to Hardy Murfree which will more fully appear by reference to said deed after deducting the 640 acres of Pleasant Kirby and other pieces which is lost by older and better claims and not here intended to be conveyed, which said deed from Selby Harney to Hardy Murfree is dated the 13th day of Oct. 1791 and bounded, to wit, Beginning at a large Sugartree a corner of said Harney's tract 7200 acres, running along the said line a North course 792 poles then East 291 poles, thence West 792 poles to the said Harney's line, thence West with his line 291 poles to the beginning."

Another court case states: "In consideration of Military service performed by Isaac Freeman to the State of North Carolina Warrant No. 5236 dated Dec. 9, 1797 and entered on the 23rd day of Dec. 1809 by No. 4252, There is granted by the said State of Tennessee unto William Woodfolk, assignee of the heirs of the said Isaac Freeman, a certain tract or parcel of land containing 240 acres, part of said Warrant, lying in Jackson Co. in the First District on the North Side of Cumberland River and on Salt Lick creek, including his occupant claim, bounded on the East by Selby Harney's [?] 7200 acre tract, on the South by Thomas Woodard's pre-emption commonly called Heaton's tract being the same that Pleasant Kearby [?] and others now live on, and on the West by a tract of 2560 acres granted to [paper fold] Graves." Note: James Ray's grandson James Ray married Cassandra Graves, most likely kin to the Graves mentioned in this case.

James Ray was given permission to run a ferry at the mouth of Wartrace Creek across the Cumberland River. Chancery Court file states:

Unlinked parents as they were too young for a DOB of 1750

Ray-6909 and Ray-443 are not ready to be merged because: Two different sets of parents. Research required.

I only know of Robert (Rhea) Ray and Ann (Raulston) Ray. Where it states "It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:" there's six test takers listed. One is me. I match DNA with the other 5 test takers. One the page of father Robert Rhea Ray, five of the son's six test takers are listed and there's no new listed persons. One of these is again me and as said before I match DNA with the other four.

Note that one of the tested, Harold Ray, has had a Y DNA test. He is showing under both so his belief is Robert is the father of this James.

So, I think here the correct child and parents are paired.

The other relationship of 6909 is separate from the relationship one this page.

These two profiles in the suggested merge have different birth and death dates as well as different parents connected. The only thing they share is a spouse and a location. In order not to conflate two different men of the same name, Sources are needed to determine the correct parents, birth and death dates and if these profiles were actually intended to represent two different men in the same area. If they are different, which one actually married Jane Allison?

They are the same James Ray. Different trees show different parents for him, and so far there is no proof positive of who his parents actually are, so just take your pick. Either way it's most likely wrong. I am more inclined to go with the father who is married to a Raulston, as a son was given a middle name of Raulston. The actual death date for this James Ray is March 1816.
