Amy was born in 1897 at Bradford, Yorkshire, the daughter of Howard Woodward Raybould and Sarah Raybould formerly Hall. [1]
In the 1901 census Amy was living with her parents at 15 Kimberley St, Bradford. She was aged 3 years. [2]
In 1911 the family was living at 7 Greenhill Street, Bradford. Amy, aged 13, was a worsted spinner but also still at school part time. [3]
Amy Woodward Raybould, as she was named on her marriage certificate, married Harold Riley on 2 September 1918 at the Holy Trinity Church, Bradford. Harold was a bachelor aged 21 and at that time a Corporal with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers [WWI]. His father was named as George Henry Riley, a baker. Amy was a spinster aged 21 and a weaver. Her father was named as Howard Woodward Raybould, a chemist's warehouseman. At the time of their marriage Harold was living at 28 Browning Street and Amy at 2 [sic] Greenhill Street. Their witnesses were J. H. Nicholas, Amy's brother in law, married to her sister Emily, and A. E. Riley, Harold's sister Annie. [4]
This couple had two children.
The 1939 Register, taken on 29 September 1939, has been described as a snapshot of the civilian population of England and Wales just after the outbreak of the Second World War. The Register recorded each person's address, date of birth and occupation.
Harold was then living at their home at 23 Fifth Ave, Bradford. Born 24 March 1897, he was aged 42 and employed as a linotype operator. The records of their two children remain closed at this time [2022]. [5]
Amy, also aged 42, was an inpatient at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bradford. She had been born on 24 April 1897. [6]
Harold Riley died in 1964 aged 67 years. [7]
Amy Woodward Riley died in 1980 aged 82 years. Her date of birth was recorded as 24April 1897. [8]
