Sarah was a Friend (Quaker)

Sarah Raylton 1732-1796 Land Owner Sarah was born in Bowes, Yorkshire in 1732 the daughter of John Raylton & his wife Barbara nee Dixon. Barbara was the daughter of Ralph Dixon & the sister of George Dixon I . Sarah marries her first cousin George Dixon II at Coniscliffe in 1753. She dies at Cockfield on 18 Apr 1796 & is buried at Raby on 21 Apr. Her will is dated 24 Mar 1796 & was proved at Durham on 30 May 1797. She left land, coal mines & quarries, value £880-£1,000 [2017 values £35,000-£44,000].


"Sarah Raylton, daughter of John Railton & Barbara Railton, was born on 28 August 1732 in Bowes, Durham, England.[1].


Sarah died on 18 April 1796 (age 63) and was buried on 21 April 1796 in Staindrop, Durham, England.[2]

Her will, dated 24 mar 1796; probated at Durham 30 may 1797" [3]
