Mary Read was baptized at Salem, Massachusetts on April 10, 1653 [1] was the daughter of Thomas Read and his second wife Mary (___) [2]
She married her step-brother John Tompkins Jr. on November 20, 1693 as his second wife. [3][2] He died intestate and his only son Nathaniel was appointed administrator of his estate in December, 1706. [4]
After John Tomkin Jr.'s death she married Daniel Rea(d) in December, 1708. [3][2]
On December 1, 1708, Daniel Rea, yeoman of Salem and Mary Tomkins, relict widow of John Tomkins, entered into an agreement due to their impending marriage. In this agreement is stated that said Mary Tomkins may dispose freely of any estate now in her possession to whom she thinks fit as if she never married said Ray and MaryTomkins relinquishes any right or interest in the estate of Daniel except what he pleases to give her in his will or by other means. James Putnam wrote his will on March 2, 1723/4, and added a memorandum in April, 1727, and in neither instance, did he mention his wife, so she may have died prior to the writing of the will. [6]

Read-897 and Read-313 appear to represent the same person because: Please merge INTO Read 313 - daughter of Thomas and Mary, married her stepbrother John Tomkins, then Daniel Rea and then James Putnam. Clearing duplicates.
Upon consideration, it seems odd that she married Daniel Ray in 1709, and that she married John Tompkins who was BORN in 1708-1710. There are records that Mary Read was older than John Tompkins, but that looks like a stretch.
Read-897 and Read-996 appear to represent the same person because: Same name; same period an place of living; their bios indicate that they married 1st Thomas XX, 2nd John Tompkins (of Salem, son of Ralph). Both profiles have the same John Tompkins (of Salem) profile as husband.
There was an Unmerged match set between Read-996 and Read-897 (back in 2014). After careful review of both biographies, I think the merge should be completed. Removing Unmerged Match.
