Biography

Kent, Timothy J. (2015), Phantoms of the French Fur Trade: Twenty Men Who Worked in the Trade Between 1618 and 1758, for a brief biographical sketch see v. 3, pp.1785-1876.

Simon, the son of Robert Joseph Réaume and Elizabeth Brunet Belhumeur; was born on 14 Sep 1697 in Montreal, Quebec, Nouvelle France.[1]

Simon married Charlotte Marie Turpin, daughter of Alexandre Turpin and Charlotte Marie Beauvais; on 10 Sep 1722 at Lachine, Ile-de-Montreal, Quebec, Nouvelle France (Canada). [2]

Simon and Charlotte were blessed with 6 children:

  • Elisabeth Marie Reaume
  • Françoise Marguerite Reaume (14 Aug 1726)
  • Jean Baptiste Reaume (8 Feb 1725-1725)
  • Marie Josephe Reaume (13 Mar 1729)
  • Twins: Madeleine Marie (died at birth) and Catherine Marie (11 May 1732)

Following the death of Charlotte (16 Jul 1767), Simon remarried Angelique Hunault (widow of Paul-Mathias Tsiheme Massia) on 3 Nov 1767 in Lachine, Montreal, Quebec, Nouvelle France (Canada).

Simon passed away before 20 Feb 1775, the date of his widow's remarriage.
