Biography

Rebeccah Green was born 10 Feb 1729, daughter of Thomas Green and his first wife in Baltimore, Baltimore, Province of Maryland. (Reasoned to be born of first wife since he married 2nd Elisabeth Carter on 11 Aug 1732.) Rebecca was christened at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church on 9 January 1732.J [1]

Rebecca Green married Isaac Green about 1741 in Baltimore, Maryland. Their 8 children were:

  1. Hannah b: 1742
  2. Temperance b: 1745
  3. Shadrick b: 16 JUL 1747 in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland
  4. Jemima? b: 1750
  5. Isaac b: 1752
  6. Delilah/"Belily" b: 1755 (sic)
  7. Meshack John (sic) b: 25 DEC 1755
  8. Abednego b: 1757

Isaac's 1800 will mentions 8 children ("4 daughters: Hannah Legit, Temperance Stevens and Belily Tebitt" but abstract does not mention 4th daughter nor a wife so wife Rebecca probably passed away before 1800. [4]

Rebecca Green was born in St. Paul's Parish, Kent County, Maryland, according a citation seen on trees at Ancestry: Maryland Birth and Death Index, film #4206. Father Robert Green, mother Jane. Most trees at Ancestry the give Jane's last name = Green (a different Green line). Green married Green. Jane Green has the "royal" Green line, leading back to the governor. This Robert Green line is not connected to those Greens, but comes from the Netherlands. That is what is given on other peoples' trees at Ancestry.

Has anybody else come across the possible maiden last name of Sympson for this Rebecca? I did a while back but really paid it no mind as it seemed to always lead back to Mary Sampson, wife of son Isaac.

I recently found a birth record from Maryland for a Rebecca Sympson born April 3, 1725 to Richard Sympson and wife Rebecca (MNU) of Anne Arundel Co. Has anybody else researched this person? The birth record can be found on Ancestry & FamilySearch in the Maryland Births and Christenings Index 1662-1911.
