Biography
According to Familysearch.org, Ludwell's mother was Elizabeth Martin, his father's second wife. So, he was a half-brother to Benjamin Rector who married Lilly Shell, his wife's sister. YOB from 1850 census. Familysearch.org shows he died about 1859 in Platte, NE. Unknown what his business might have been there apart from his family in Iowa.
Apparently moved from Indiana to Wapello County, Iowa by 1842(youngest child's birth) to be near Ruth's sister Julia Shell Harris.
5 known children: 3 sons and 2 daughters. Familysearch.org shows first born was Lillie Ann Rector in 1825(no sources).
