Ann is not named in her father's will. The Redford and Pledge families lived near each other and subsequent generations of the Poindexter family used the surnames Redford and Milner in naming their children. It is hard to imagine that she was not part of John Redford's family, unless she was a visiting cousin when she met William Pledge. It appears, too, that John Redford had only a single brother, Francis, who suffered from some disability and disappears from the records quite early. That leaves no other family for Ann.
