Lucy and Robert had the following known children:

  1. Jackson[2]
  2. Rachel Catherine[2]
  3. Elizabeth [2]
  4. Jacob[3][2]
  5. Susan[4][2]
  6. Richard Henry [2]
  7. Ann Rebecca[5][2]

In the 1830 Census, Robert & Lucy are listed with two children under the age of ten, one boy and one girl. Robert is in the 24 & under 36 age bracket and Lucy is in the 10 & under 24 age bracket.[9]

In the 1840 Census, Robert is in the 36 & under 55 age group while Lucy is in the 24 & under 36 age group. They are reported to have 2 boys and 3 girls under age 10, and one boy in the 10 & under 24 age group.[10]

Research Notes

Parents

John Redman and Sarah Day were previously attached as his parents. This is an error that has been propagated on many family trees on other 3rd party paid subscription websites. Many of these trees also list his wife Lucy's maiden name as Hall which is also incorrect. It has been found that John Redman and Sarah Day were the parents of Robert's wife, Lucy. Within the Patriot Research System Lucy is shown as the daughter of John and Sarah.[13]

1820 Census Hardy County, Virginia
There are at least five households with the surname of Redman listed Thomas, Nimrod, and Richard are listed on one page [14] with William and James listed on the next page[15] There should also be a listing for John Redman.
