Story told me by my grampa Robert Redwine.

By gloria. weeeelll gloriana you kids all get to that age where you dont like your name... like you right now, youre what , fifteen now?( i was fourteen, grampa knew his young girls , thats for sure) you wana be called lori right now, and your names gloria, and I call you gloriana after the great english queen... but no that not good enough you wanna chop it up and make loooriii outa it...but that alright youll probablyo grow outa that phase... but Ill tell iyou a deep dark secret if you promise not to tell... do you pinkie promise?..Well of course i said yes, we solemly spit on our little fingers and hooked mine around his and shook three times then slapped our palms together...then he came close down to my level, he being more than six foot n me.less than five... he made it real mysterious and in a low tone of voice said " My name aint the real certain true one either..." of course he made me beg a little...then he said well i'll tell you- somebody was pretty mean when they named me. I always go by Robert Franklin , and say I was named for my uncle Frank who worked in the oil fields, but here the darn blamed truth ...I have a GIRLS Name... now dont laugh looorrriii, i was named FRANCIS... they say if you spell it right its a boys name, but I never believed it an I warnt gona have my friends tease me bout it, no sireee... " I kept that secret till he had to send for a birth certificate and i teased him that the cat was outa the bag for sure... I think my aunt judy and my gramma knew but i dont know who else he told the 'secret' to...
