James C Reed was born in November 1854 in Warren Twnp., Belmont Co., Ohio. He was the son of John Reed and Martha Price.

He died 30 August 1861 in Warren Twnp., Belmont Co., Ohio.^[2] A victim of the diptheria epidemic on Leatherwood Ridge in 1861. He is buried in Bethel Cemetery in Baileys Mills, Ohio.^[3]
