Biography

John was born in 1724. He was first married on 11 May 1749 to Meriam Talbot, but she died in December 1749. He married (2nd) on 27 March 1752, Dighton, Mass., to Mary Perry.

He passed away in 1776.[1] He is said to have served as a private in Captain Briggs' Company, Colonel Freeman's Regiment of Massachusetts. Note: the John Reed who served at Lake Champlain was apparently a different John Reed.

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

He may have actually died in 1786. The John Reed who died in 1776 is perhaps a different John Reed, so the 1776 death date often given is perhaps incorrect.

I entered more information about him and also found his parents. I think that he died as a Revolutionary War soldier.
