Biography

One of the signers of the Secession from the Union, column 1, row 11

Jacob was born about 1800. He passed away 19 August, 1880. He served in the Civil War as a Private. His Military Unit was Palmetto (First Palmetto) Sharp Shooters (Jenkins Regiment) N-Sa https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/4th_Regiment,_South_Carolina_Infantry

The following is mentioned in the King Family papers (attached):

"Jacob Pinckney Reed, brother of Cynthia (he was born in 1814) became one of the most influential men in this area; owned and published the first (?) newspaper, The Highland Sentinel; was a lawyer and later, a judge; the grandfather of Elise Mauldin Paget who is the grandmother of Dr. J.P. Hentz, who married Janie Rice Haynie. The Reeds were French Huguenots. J.P. (Jake) Reed was also the great grandfather of Lily Strickland Anderson, who became a well-known musician, wrote words and music to many familiar songs."

Reed-24150 and Reed-5919 appear to represent the same person because: Sorry- when looking for Jacob to add, for some reason I couldn't see him. Please merge. I have attached some family information for you on his profile. His mother, Sally or Sallie was not married to Jacob Broyles. I didn't know what to do with that bit of information, so I just made a note of it on her profile.
