Hello Rick,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

I would like to suggest that the Maryland Project could fit your current research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Please take your time. Accuracy is so much more important than speed on WikiTree. And please add locations, dates, and at least one reliable source to each profile, particularly any pre-1700s profile, before you leave it. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Have questions? Reply to this comment or ask in the comments section of my profile.

 :)

Hey Rick,

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House, you might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Welcome! Mags

Hi! My name is Richard G. Reed and I have been doing family research off and on for several years. I am by no means a professional; however, I have had some success with finding members of my family ancestry. Of course, like many of you, I have some brick walls and continue to search when time permits trying for a break through. I have found that overtime new information comes to light and allows one to make progress. Ocasionally, there is information that comes from other researchers that can help lead one to an unknown ancestor, Hopefully, by joining WikiTree there is someone out there that has a common ancestor and has done enough research that they can share to help me find another ancestor.

Hi Richard!

Welcome to WikiTree, and thank you for your interest.

If you just want to look things up, or upload a GEDCOM for match, you do not need to take further actions.

If you want to contribute to WikiTree (add profiles, collaborate etc.), you must sign up as a volunteer. Doing so I will ask you to tell a little about your plans on your profile page. Do not volunteer unless you plan to contribute please!

After volunteering you can sign the HONOR CODE. You'll then become a full member and can help grow WikiTree through participation in the community. WikiTree also have MENTORS in case you need guidance.
