Obituary for Mildred Pauline Smith - age 86, of Heartland of Preston County, formerly of Reedsville, died November 19, 1989, at Heartland. She was born September 3, 1903 in Rock Forge, a daughter of the late Will O. and Bessie Keener Reed.
Survivors include one daughter Bessie Smith Young of Baltimore, Maryland; two sons Robert B Smith of Needles, California, John W Smith of Plymouth, Indiana; one brother Emery Reed of Morgantown; four sisters Jeanette White of Masontown, Hazel Niner of Lake Worth, Florida, Edna Thalman of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Madeline Denkenberger of Lapear, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Olen C. Smith in 1979; three sons Guy G Smith, Otis S Smith, Casper L Smith; one daughter Edna E Young; four sisters Ada Ghuste, Lucille Lyons, Gladys Fields, Helen McGinnis; three grandchildren. Burial was in the Gordon Cemetery near Gladesville.[6]

Nieman Clan History compiled by Helen Marie (Newcomer) Maust. Aunt Helen attended most all the Nieman Family Reunions and the Frankhouser Family Reunions. She gathered information from family members who attended the Reunions over the years sharing information about family lore and updated information about each branch. Around 1980 she put information together by typewriter and created a very large document that included all of the information about the Nieman and Frankhouser clans. Both branches intertwined in various ways and trace back to the common ancestors of John Blosser who emigrated from Switzerland and was of German origin. In the following years, she provided updates after the reunions were over and she could add the new information gathered at the reunions to the document. That document has been scanned as a PDF file.
