Maurice Reed, 78, of Burgin, died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Aug. 5, 1928 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Joe and Lucy Mobley Reed, and was the husband of Lena Harmon Reed.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Eller's Memorial Baptist Church, and was retired from the Corning Glass forming department.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Debra (Donald) McMichael of Willisburg; two sons, Larry D. Reed and Keith (Shirlene) Reed, both of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, July 18 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Larry Reed and Floying Thompson Jr. officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Don McMichael, Kevin McMichael, April Reed, Kristen Reed, Heather Neighbors, Lynette Reed, Brian Neighbors and Dennis Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers were Cornell Powell, Dale Powell, Johnny Tyler, Bobbi Tyler, Delena McMichael, Hobert Proctor, Jonathan Kays, Donnie McMichael and Stacy Caudill.
