Samuel Reed was a Captain of a company of Minute men Col. William Prescott's regiment which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775, and serving in Prescott's 9th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment.

Samuel Reed was born on April 3, 1737 in Lexington, Middlesex County, Massachusetts Bay. His parents were Benjamin Reed and Rebecca Stone.

He married Hannah Raymond on Feb. 16, 1762 at Littleton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
