When William (Rees) Reece was born on December 4, 1736, in Hopewell, Virginia, his father, Thomas, was 31 and his mother, Margaret, was 24. [1][2] Around 1762, William moved to Rowan County, North Carolina. [3] He married Charity Dillon on August 5, 1763, in Frederick, Virginia [4] and returned to Rowan County, North Carolina to live. [5] They had at least nine children in 18 years between 1765 and 1785. By 1805, according Tennessee Tax Records, William was living in Greene County. [6] He remained in Greene County until his death on September 6, 1822, having lived a long life of 85 years. [7][8]
