Biography

Alice Maude Rees was the daughter of William Henry Rees and his wife Martha Louisa Davies. Alice Maude was born in 1909 in the parish of Robeston West. If I have my facts right, Alice was born 28th April 1909. Her mother was Martha Louisa Davies and came from, the beautifully named Frogs Hole in the old parish of Haroldston West

Alice married Thomas F Thomas in 1928. The marriage is recorded in the Haverfordwest District of Pembs.

Thomas and Alice, had three children, born in the 1930’s and 1940’s, I do know their exact date of birth, but this will remain private, unless the, children themselves wish the information known to the wider world.

The following information was given to me by Alice Maude, herself. The names are correct, but the actual dates of birth will remain private. These are Fredrick Kenneth and Anita. All three of whom married. Thomas and Alice divorced, but I did not press Alice for any further information, regarding the breakup of their marriage. As yet I have not found any record of their divorce. Alice can be found at 35 Priory Ville Milford Have, on 1939 Registration taken at the outbreak of World War Two that year. I often visited Alice at her flat in Robert Street, which had an excellent view of the Harbour. She remarked that my uncle Bill (her first cousin) would often visit. Knowing my uncle well, his visits were combined with his hobby of ship spotting. And a visit to Alice was twofold. One keeping up with the family news, and two spotting the Tankers, at their moorings in comfort with a nice cup of tea.

Alice was a great help when I first started to compile the family tree way back in the 1980’s, and thank her very much for her help.

Alice Maud died in 1994 aged 85. Her death was recorded in the Haverfordwest District of Pembs.
