Biography

Richard Reeves was born in 1875 at Launton in Oxfordshire. He was the son of Richard Reeves and his wife Mary Ann, born Mary Ann Jarvis. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

In 1881 Richard Reeves was living in a cottage at Launton with his parents Richard and Mary Ann and their other children. His age was given as 5, implying a birth date in 1875 or 1876. His birthplace was given as Launton, Oxfordshire. He was at school. ^[2]

In 1891 Richard was living in Station Road in Launton with his parents and their other children. His age was given as 15, implying a birth date in 1875 or 1876. His birthplace was given as Launton. He was an agricultural labourer. ^[4]

Richard Reeves, aged 22, a gardener, of 65 Barr Street, son of Richard Reeves, gardener; and Mary Ann Wheeler, aged 22, of 65 Barr Street, daughter of George Wheeler, blacksmith; were married at the parish church of St George, Birmingham, on 19 December 1897. ^[3]

In 1901 Richard Reeves was living at 123 Grosvenor Street West in Birmingham with his wife Mary A[nn] and their daughter Mary E[llen]. His age was given as 25, implying a birth date in 1875 or 1876. His birthplace was given as Launton, Oxfordshire. He was a traveller in brushes. ^[5]

Research Notes

A generation may be missing. The Richard Reeves born in 1875 seems to actually be just Richard, rather than Richard Frederick.

His son, Richard Frederick Reeves, was born in 1907. ^[7]

Richard F. Reeves married Violet N. Reeves in Birmingham registration district in 1937. ^[8], and their son Alan was born in 1942, with mother's maiden name "Reeves". ^[9]
