Biography

Thomas Reeves was born in 1679 in Southampton, Long Island, the son of Thomas Reeves and Rebecca Salmon.[1][2]
He married Bethiah Horton, daughter of Barnabas Horton, in June 1707 in Southold.[3] His wife Bethiah died in 1714.[3][4]
He married Mary Wells, daughter of William Wells, in Southold 20 July 1719.[5]
Thomas and Bethiah Reeves had a first child Abner, born in 1708.[6]
Thomas Reeves died 9 November 1738.[7]

The parents of Thomas Reeves were Thomas Reeves, Jr. (1646-1685) and Rebecca Rider (1650-1694 The parents of Thomas Reeves, Jr. were Thomas Reeves, Sr.(1624-1650)and Hannah Roe (1642-1660). Thomas Sr. came to New England as an indentured servant on the ship Bevis from Southampton, England in May, 1638. He was in the employ of Henry Byley of Salisbury. Byley--aged 20-- arrived at the same time on the Bevis. Thomas was later in the employ of John Gore in Roxbury, until 1645. He was a blacksmith by trade. He moved to Springfield in 1646 where he was the town drummer. He was burried Nov. 5, 1650 in Springfield, MA.
