Biography

Loretta Joy Reeves was born in 23 Mar 1896 in either Litchfield, Montgomery, Illinois, United States or in St. Louis, Missouri, United States (as stated in her 3rd marriage certificate)^[1]. Her parents were John Reeves, born in St. Louis, Missouri^[1], and Margaret Downs or Down, born in Alton, Illinois. ^[1]

Andrew Torrence and Mary J Reeves Torrence had (2) of her Mary's sisters were living with them (Anna Reeves age 18 - that married William Helmer Klock and Loretta at age 13 living with their eldest sister and her husband) *

Note: Loretta gave birth to Delbert but she may have abandoned her son and let her eldest sister Mary and Andrew Torrence raised Delbert. Anna Elizabeth Reeves believed her sister, Loretta, was married to a man with the last name Clayton*, which would have been Delbert's father.

Birth Year:
Being the last of the children born to Margaret Downs or Downes, she would have been 38 years old in 1896, 49 in 1905. The year 1896 is (3) years from the previous child and 1905 would leave a 9 year gap between children. And 3% of the population have children over 43 years of age and the percentage quickly drops from 43 age to 45. Using 1896 for birth year.

Marriage Info:
I found some history indicating that she may have remarried several times: Loretta's death certificate at the age of 46 indicates her parents were John W Reeves (father) and Margrett Downs (mother). Giving her a birth year of 1901; however, she may have given a different year than 1896 to be closer to her new husbands age on the marriage certificate.
