Research Notes

Did this lady exist? Hutchins in his History and Antiquities of Dorset mentions only 3 children of Robert; John, Agnes and the wife of William Hunton.[1]

Robert in his will also only mentions his son John (deceased) and his son in laws John Swayne (known to have married Agnes) and William Hunton[2]

I do not think this lady existed and agree with Helen questioning this. It may be that the 'unnamed' daughter, wife of Wm. Hunton was a 'Joan' but I can find no supporting information for this. As an aside, Wm. Hunton was granted a dwelling house in Fountmell, Dorset by 'Robert Ryve and his wife Joan' in 1544 (curious, as this was 3 years after Robert's death).

Could this be the un-named daughter married to William Hunton in Childs, J. Rives. Reliques of the Rives (Ryves) : being historical and genealogical notes of the ancient family Ryves of County Dorset and of the Rives of Virginia, an essay, sociological and historical of a family's contribution to the making of a nation. Lynchburg, Va.: J.P. Bell Co., 1929.
