Robert REID was born about 1834 in Haddington, Haddingtonshire, Scotland, son of James REID and Jane (HARDIE) REID.[1][2]
He married Euph FORTUNE on 17 June 1859 at St John's Hill, Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a railway fitter living at Fountainbridge, Edinburgh.[1] They had 8 children.
1841 at Drem Old Toll, Athelstaneford, Haddingtonshire, Scotland.[3]
1851 at 33 Cotters House, Dirleton, Haddingtonshire, Scotland where he was an agricultural labourer.[2]
1861 at 30 Lauriston Street, Edinburgh, Scotland where he was a railway porter.[4]
1871 at 3 Brandfield Street, Edinburgh, Scotland where he was a railway guard.[5]
1881 at 36 Muir Street, Dalziel, Lanarkshire, Scotland where he was a railway inspector.[6]
He died on 28 November 1889 at Locomotive shops, Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland as the result of having been run down by a locomotive. He was 55 years old and the Chief Traffic Inspector for Caledonian Railways.[7][8][9]
