Hey Lisa! Thanks for adding to the profile of Oliver Shannon Barks/Banks. I am not a relative of the Barks family, but I have been studying the family due to my interest in the genealogy of men who served in the 54th Massachusetts during the Civil War (i.e., Shannon's brother, William T. Barks). That is great that you are going to do a DNA test. Let me know if you ever want to compare notes. Ray Jones

Welcome Lisa,

Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

Everything on WikiTree is a collaborative work in progress so don’t forget to read and sign our Honor Code. This is what keeps WikiTree a friendly and helpful community. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Happy Hunting,

Jess

I'm very new to all of this and going to submit my DNA results when I get them. Maternal Family includes Hughes, Barks/Banks (PA), and Parker (NC). Paternal includes Washington, Reid/Read from VA. Looking forward to *meeting* you.

Hello Lisa,

Welcome to WikiTree!

We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile for every person.

A couple suggestions to get you started:

Our Honor Code is a very important part of why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree so please take some time to read it.

Feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum, found in the upper right of the screen, under the My WikiTree tab.

Our help pages, also top right, have all sorts of useful information.

If you would like to contribute by adding information, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know.

You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.

Happy Hunting,

Jess
