No wife/mother is ever mentioned in any of the sources - was there one at that time?, died during voyage?, died before voyage?, there but just not listed? 22MAR - just found on-line free book of Dobson's showing Anna Mill was the daughter of Robert Mill, master mason in Edinburgh, and an indentured servant onboard the "Exchange" (page 244, see source info below) and she was in a "headright land grant" on 3 MAY1687 [which might be the land she was granted after working off her indenture after 4 years] and that she sold it to James.
James's father was named John and he is listed often as "gardener" but this is an occupation (same as his cohort John Hampton with whom he was an "overseer" in East New Jersey per Dobson) different than the "John The Gardener" (who was also known as "John the Younger") who wrote the book "The Scotch Gardener" - need to differentiate between the two.
Notice that there are two "Johns" listed as children of James B . . . the second one is a possibility and the sources say he is legit so will have to investigate further.
Facts lhat might lead to "assumptions":
James B Reid entered the US in 1683 and additional persons on source are mentioned as "child", not children.
He is not listed as either child or father or anything
FAG states that his wife's name was "Anna" (thinking Anna Mill right now) and that he had a son "John" (who was also mentioned as being his executor in his will)
