Biography

James Reid's parents were born in Fife, Scotland and emigrated to the U.S. in 1870, via Glasgow where his brother Andrew was born and Liverpool, England where James was born. The family settled in Elmira, New York.

The 1900 census of Elmira shows James Reid age 34 living with his wife Blanche age 35, their daughters Blanche H. Reid age 9, Madeleine S. Reid age 6, Mother-in-law Blanche Halliday and brother-in-law Charles allay age 27.

James Reid was a cattleman [1]

The 1920 census of Elmira shows Andrew age 53 living with his wife Blanche age 54, their daughter Madeleine age 25 and his mother-in-law, Martha Halliday age 76.
