Nancy married Josiah Wheeler Barnes in Bakersfield, Vermont on 4 December 1834. Josiah was a farmer. Josiah was one of several townspeople who petitioned the state to establish a new high school in Bakersfield, the Bakersfield Academical Institution, which was established on October 25, 1844.
Josiah and Nancy had five children. She died in St. Albans at the age of 83.
