Biography

William was born in 1887, the son of William Reid (1861-1936) and Elleanora (Rotherham) Reid (1862-1934). [1] The Vic. Registry shows place of birth as "SLAT," which is likely Slaty Creek, just north of St. Arnaud. He was born at Barrakee, Victoria, Australia. This has been confirmed by family.

His schooling was started at Burrumbite and finished at Slaty Creek. Before walking three and a half miles to attend the Slaty Creek school William used to milk the cows. Then take the milk to the creamery across the road. After he finished his schooling he went on to work his own farm.

In 1911 he married Violet Lucy Reynolds Baker). [2]

They had 4 sons and a daughter.

Will. passed away in 1968, aged 80 [80y 9m 14d]. [3]. REID William Edwin (parents) REID William & Teresa (Rotherham).

Elleanora had an uncle Edwin Rotherham 1814 - 1869 in UK. No doubt she had a say in the naming of William Edwin.
