Biography

Janet Reid, daughter of James Reid and Janet Reid (recorded as Henderson), was born on 24 February 1815 in Saline, Fife, Scotland and was baptised there on 12 March 1815.^[1][2]

Janet Reid married John Black in Culross, Perthshire, Scotland on 1 December 1833.^[3]

She passed away of valvular disease on 9 January 1888 in St George, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. "Janet Black, aged 72, widow of John Black, farm steward; parents: James Reid, farmer (dcsd), and Janet Reid.(dcsd)"^[4]

Research Notes

There seems to be a disconnect with Janet. On her birth registration, her mother is named as Janet Henderson. Her death certificate says Reid. It may be her father was Reid-7419 and the mother's last name was noted incorrectly as Henderson instead of Reid. A descendant also was in contact that said Reid really was her mother's last name.
