Marguerite Regnault / Renault / Renaud was from Ars on the Île de Ré, Aunis (today Charente-Maritime), France. She was baptized at the church of St-Étienne at Ars on 25 Mar 1631 and was the daughter of Mathurin Renault / Renaud and Gabrielle Rosty / Rosti / Routy.
[1]
Marguerite married Antoine Duret on 24 Feb 1653 at the church of Sainte-Maguerite in La Rochelle, Aunis (today Charente-Maritime), France. [1][2]
A first son of Marguerite and Antoine, named Jacques, was baptized the following year on 17 Feb 1654. Their first son presumably died as an infant, and as was not uncommon a second son was named Jacques, born about 1656. Their second son Jacques Duret was noted as being from the parish of St-André in Bournezeau, Poitou (today Vendée), France (a town in Poitou not far from Rosnay where Marguerite's father Mathurin Regnault was from). [2]
Their son Jacques Duret became a pioneer of Nouvelle-France, travelling to the colony by 1681, and later marrying Catherine Jamin, on 10 Feb 1687 at Notre-Dame-de-Québec. [2]
