Biography

Jane was the 8th child of James Rendell and Mary Strode. She was born in East Chinnock and baptised there on 6 Aug 1815 at the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the census of 7 Jun 1841 she is living at home with her widowed father and 3 brothers, her age given as 23 (in fact was 26). There is as yet no direct evidence for her subsequent history. However a burial is recorded for a Jane RENDALL, age 34, at St Mary's Church in Hardington Mandeville, some 2 miles south-east of East Chinnock. The age and location fit, but it is not a proven fact. If it is her, then she was unmarried.
