John Reynolds is mentioned in his fathers will dated May 1, 1654, as being under the age of 16. He made his own will on March 11, 1668 and it was probated May 3, 1669. He does not list a wife or children, but instead leaves everything to his brothers and sisters. He was probably not married.

DEATH: estimated from date of probate of his will.

The Will of John Reynolds, dated 11 Mar 1668 and recorded 3 May 1669, left his estate to: my brother George Rivers; brother Richard; sister Jane; sister Elizabeth Rivers; to Robert Driver; to Elizabeth River's daughter Mary; to my sister Elizabeth Jordan a bill of Robert Clothier's at her decease to her son Richard Jordan.[1]

Reynolds-13897 and Reynolds-291 appear to represent the same person because: Christopher and his wife only had one son John. Reynolds-291 made his will 11 Mar 1668. Reynolds-13897 says he died 11 Mar (a different year) but the similar dates indicate that someone just copied the date wrong. Please merge.

Darrin, I believe that the NetherlandsGenealogie trees have made a mistake. I can't find evidence for another John Reynolds who died in 1687. Considering that the John Reynolds, son of Christopher, made his will 11 Mar 1668 and this John supposedly died 11 Mar also, is too coincidental. You should either re-propose the merge or disconnect this profile if you think he might have a different set of parents.

I've added a copy of John's will. Re: Elizabeth Rivers: Because she carries the surname Rivers and has a daughter Mary, she is probably the sister-in-law, wife of George, not the step sister, dtr of Elizabeth (_____) (Rivers) Reynolds. My theory is that Elizabeth Rivers was wife of George Rivers. And that perhaps John was living with the couple at the time of his death and Elizabeth would have been caring for him in his frail and weak state, and daughter Mary being around would have kept him company and gained his affection.

I've just looked up George, when he died his wife was named Mary. Of course that doesn't mean he didn't have a wife Elizabeth before Mary.

John also mentions sister Elizabeth Rivers, and her daughter Mary. Is this actually sister in law and wife of George, or another step or half sister? Anyone looked into this?

Reynolds-13897 and Reynolds-291 do not represent the same person because: Based on will data provided in the profile fir Reynolds-291, it's possible Reynold-13897 has incorrect parents listed. Further research will be needed to verify his parents and children before a valid merge can be determined.
