Biography

Lawrence Rhoads was born in August 1879 in Jersey Co., Illinois. He is the son of Samuel H. Rhoads and Emily Erwin.

He died 29 November 1949 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.[9][10] He is buried in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.[11]

    Lawrence E Rhoads, 70, Of Cape Passes Away
    Lawrence E Rhoads, 70 years old, 803 Themis Street, a resident of Cape Girardeau for the past 20 years, died of a heart attack at 4 o'clock this morning at the hospital here. He was stricken Thanksgiving night and was taken to the hospital. He rallied for several days and appeared much better.
    Lawrence Edwin Rhoads was born Aug 20, 1879 at Kane, Ill. He had his early schooling near there, graduating from high school at Medora, Ill., and from Gem City Business College at Quincy, Ill.
    He was married to Lena S Radle of Bonne Terre June 25 1904. To this union were born five children, two sons passing away in infancy, three daughters surviving.
    For 20 years Mr Rhoads was employed as accountant by the St Joseph Lead Co of Bonne Terre. He was also associated with concerns in Stuttgart, Arkansas, Fairfield, Illinois, and Crystal City.
    His last business connection in Cape Girardeau was with the Tucker Truck Lines. For the past few years he has been partially retired, practicing private accounting and compiling tax returns.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs Lena S Rhoads; three daughters, Mrs LN LaLumandier and Mrs Clyde Gillespie, both of Cape Girardeau; and Mrs Charles Mussler of Crystal City; four brothers, Ralph Rhoads of Stuttgart; John Rhoads and Roy Rhoads of Detroit, Michigan; and Guy Rhoads of Croson Point, Indiana, and three grandchildren.
    He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and of the Masonic Order of Bonne Terre.Tentative funeral plans have been set for Thursday afternoon. The body is at the Walther Funeral Home
