It isn't clear yet whether Saphronia was born in Mercer County, Missouri or Putnam County, Missouri.
Saphronia is listed in the 1900 Census with the last name of "Ceasure" -- from the image of the census record, it's clear why it was mistranscribed. She is listed as a widow, and her five children (ages 2 to 10) are living with her. Also in the household are her grandparents, Phantley and Sally "Rhoads."[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Saphronia by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Saphronia:
Rhodes-111 and Rhoades-169 appear to represent the same person because: This entire family has been duplicated -- I've been merging into the RHOADES surname because that is what the ancestral name appears to be. I'm also noting RHODES in the Other Last Names field to note the possible change.
