William was born on January 8, 1877, in Polk Township, Macoupin County, Illinois[1]. He is the son of William Rhodes and Ambrosia Smith. He passed away in 1967.

1880 - United States Federal Census - In 1880, William is listed as William Rhoads, 36, and is living with his family in Polk, Macoupin County, Illinois. The rest of his family includes his wife Ambrosia, 29, and children, Fletcher 9, Flora 7, William 3, Frank 1, Mary 1, and an infant Rhoads son, 3 months.[2]

1900 - United States Federal Census - In the 1900 census, brothers W. R. Rhodes, 23, and Frank Rhodes, 21, were living together in Butler Grove, Montgomery County, Illinois. Both are listed as farm laborers.[3]

1930 - United States Federal Census - In 1930, William is listed as Will R. Rhodes, 52, living in Hillsboro, Montgomery, Illinois, with his wife Roxy, 44; and children Thelma, 17; Lois, 11; and William 3.[4]
